His film Jagga Jasoos has a deadline now: August 28, 2015. Any more delays will mean implications for everyone involved. But that doesn’t seem to bother Anurag Basu, the director of Jagga Jasoos, who is gearing up to pack his bags and head to Korea in February, 2015.
The filmmaker was at the NFDC Bazaar in Goa, where he revealed that he has been given permission to shoot a film in Korea and is heading to the country to take the discussions to the next level. “Its a sorted trip. Im not going to be shooting there. I will there for discussions. The deal is pretty simple. There are incentives on offer along with a 30 per cent rebate on costs involved while shooting. Once I formalise my deal with the ministry there, I will be able to tell you what will be shot there and when,” says Anurag, keeping mum about his future film plans.
The filmmaker, also Ranbir Kapoors business partner in Picture Shuru Productions, was at the NFDC Film Bazaar for a discussion and to network. And turns out, hes not returning home empty handed.
There are plenty of corporate company officials you meet. These associations help later. We also meet a lot of writers. I had a 90-minute window before my session. Three young, bright and aspiring writers gave me a narration each in 30 minutes. And Ive liked most of what I heard, says Anurag, adding, So, if I eventually take up something to produce, I can sell a big film of mine with two smaller films to the same corporate officials I meet here. As a senior filmmaker, its my responsibility to help younger talent mushroom.
